"AKKOLADA"

Our Philly UCCA Chamber Choir "Akkolada" has been invited by the Ukraine Ministry of Culture to sing at the Presidential Independence Concert at the "Palats Ukraina" in Kyiv on August 22. This is a great honor for our group, as they will be the only ensemble to represent the US Diaspora. Though internal expenses are paid by the Ministry, the group still needs to pay for airfare, and representative costumes (stage appearance is second only to performance). In addition to the main performance, they will also be doing solo concerts in Kyiv and Lviv. If you'd like to help out, please send your donations (made payable to "UCCA Akkolada") to:

UKRAINE BASEBALL

Our friend, Basil Tarasko, former assistant manager of the Atlanta Braves and current scout for the San Diego Padres, has been doing an admirable job of promoting and developing baseball in Ukraine over the last several years. The boys and girls are quickly improving and have distinguished themselves in many international tournaments, including winning prestigious championships. The primary focus has been to involve orphanages in the program, and give underprivileged children an opportunity to play organized sports, travel, and build character, self-confidence, and relationships. They need our help! Donations in any amount will be greatly appreciated. Checks should be made payable to "Ukraine Baseball" and sent directly to:
